Great for your Mk18 or M4A1 clone.  Known by military historians and clone enthusiasts as simply the NT4, this suppressor was originally fielded in the early 2000s as part of a SOCOM solicitation.

 

The SOCOM requirement was seven 30-round magazines (210 rounds) fired full-auto as fast as possible. The prototype model did not have the "corncob" girdle, for which the NT4 is so known for.  The prototype passed with 55 grain M193, but had testing failures when using the required M855 "ball" ammo.  The solution was, as the story goes, to weld a wire frame, or girdle around the can, to make sure it would not burst, or overheat.  The welded girdle was more for external structural support than heat dissipation.  The second model had the girdle added, and it passed with M855.

 

After being widely used in the field during the GWOT, there were very few suppressors made after 2021, and the market price has been driven up by product scarcity.  Subsequently, the US Marine Corp issued a new contract for the same suppressor to attach to their primary infantry rifle the HK 416, or the M27.
